A little introduction

Emyvale History

Susan and Steve bought Emyvale House in 2003. Susan is district nurse trained and holds a Bsc in nursing studies and Stephen is a trained nurse specialising in learning disabilities.

Both were working full time when they decided to buy Emyvale House and enter the world of Adult Social Care.

The company grew in 2005 with the acquisition of Eboracum House and Ashmeadows and then in 2007 with the acquisition of Lockermarsh and West Melton Lodge.

It was at this point they then decided to use the umbrella of “Emyvale”, to create Emyvale Care to describe the group.

Dale Davenport

Dale Davenport - Emyvale Care Homes

I started my career in care working with adults with Autism and Learning Disabilities.
I worked in this sector for five years before obtaining my first Registered Managers position with a start-up home care service. I then went on to set up another start-up service obtaining a good rating with CQC. My passion falls within residential care so eventually, I transitioned back into this service managing residential homes for the elderly.

Our Approach

Our Approach to Care

Our motto states “Where care comes first”, and this is evident if you come to visit us at Emyvale in any of our homes.

Genuine relationships are at the heart of our care approach and staff aim to provide the best professional support available to anyone who resides with us, be that for daycare once a week, or long-term residential support and care.

Home” isn’t just a place. It should be a feeling, it should provide warmth and relaxation, it should be somewhere where you can be yourself, it’s more than just four walls, and this is evident in the way our staff treat everyone within Emyvale’s care with respect and dignity.

Our Approach to Meals

We believe that mealtimes should feel special and we dress the dining rooms to make sure people feel cared for within that environment. We aspire for hotel quality but with home cooked food and complemented with a homely charm. Our chefs pride themselves on being able to meet individual needs. Throughout the day we complement the different menu choices with snacks and refreshments of choice.

We make sure birthdays and special occasions are celebrated and include everyone that is special to the individual celebrating.

Our Approach to Activity

Laughter is the best medicine and we try to make sure everyone has a smile on their face at least once a day :)

We foster a sense of fun, balanced with the respect needed to develop meaningful relationships with those living at Emyvale. Our activities are tailored to the homes, but more so, to the individual needs of our residents who put their trust in our care.

The activities do differ from home to home as does our approach, but across all the homes, partnership is the key. We look to develop meaningful and sustainable partnerships with those in the local area, be that schools, colleges, volunteering programmes, churches to name but a few.

Emyvale Care respects quiet time is also important and needs to be balanced with other social engagement so all our homes have areas of relaxation, providing a gentle solace if the days ever feel too busy.
