Lockermarsh is a delightful smaller sized home set in the heart of a quiet residential area of Thorne. People who live at the home are invited to personalise their room, bringing with them any personal belongings which help to create that ‘home-from-home’ feeling.
Lockermarsh has a lot of history within the community of Thorne. The original house was built in 1661. The home still has lots of its original features including beams and fireplaces. Lockermarsh was originally a farmhouse.
Offering dementia friendly care for residents on a short-term or permanent basis, the staff of Lockermarsh take pride in a sensitive and person-centred approach.
Within Lockermarsh we offer a dementia-friendly environment that stimulates senses and evokes memories. The residents enjoy home-cooked food of their choice and a varied activity programme which includes reminiscence and life story work, quizzes, board games, musical activities, special themed events, art and crafts and a hairdressing service. We have a specialist activities coordinator working with residents and the local community to provide inspiring engaging activities within the home and outside in the wider area.
Life within Lockermarsh truly is a ‘home-from-home’ experience.
We have created a dementia-friendly environment with specific areas such as our Boutique and Flower shop areas to engage residents in creative and meaningful activity and stimulation.
The staff who work within our setting are local to the area and have worked here for many years. The team take great pride in their work and enjoy working within our setting. Lockermarsh is like one big happy family.
